P.U.L.S.E. is actively in the process of continuing our  “HOTSPOT” campaign.  This campaign is not new, our first campaign started in 1996 with the City of Miami and Miami Dade Police Departments and ran for one year.  The campaign resulted in over 1000 arrests and the confiscation millions of dollars in drugs, promoting law and order to many parts of the community. Our Board voted in February to work with the City of Miami Police and community to continue our HOTSPOT Campaign.

This campaign gives residents the opportunity to report illegal activities and/or crimes and remain anonymous. Most community issues involve :
  • Homelessness
  • Joblessness
  • Illiteracy
  • incarceration
In these communities if you see any suspicious or illegal acts of crime, our HOTSPOT card provides a cry for help. You fill out the card and remain anonymous. These cards can be picked up at any Local City NET office, Church/Community Center within the City of Miami's District 5.

Meetings are scheduled with Area NET Commanders regarding information given on each card and what follow-up actions will be taken.   Written reports are provided from the police department detailing any arrests and drug confiscations resulting. What makes this different from “Citizens Crime Watch” is that pastors, members and citizens are actively involved by riding with the officers in the “Hot” areas to make certain that each report is acted upon.  This builds community trust in law enforcement and, consequently, better relationships.

 Our Objectives Are......

To Make all "HOTSPOT" records available through the 311 system; NET, Police, Waste Management, Code Enforcement, and the State Attorney.
Also, to achieve future progress with establish systems that can be measured and evaluated. HOTSPOT wants to improve the quality of life in these communities.P.U.L.S.E. staff and volunteers will be working in churches, businesses, community centers, flea markets, movie theatres, laundry mats, etc to distribute the cards and flyers.  Our campaign has been very successful in the past and I am confident that we can take back our communities if we work hard together

This campaign will excel further then the eye can see, if WE as citizens of these communities come together to fight these detrimental activities out of our neighborhoods.
